St. Mary Parish Church 1916-2016
The Catholic Community in south Akron has been present since 1887. In 1896 the little Mission of St. Vincent Parish became a parish in its own right with a resident pastor. On October 1, 1916, the present church building was dedicated for sacred worship, and six months later the present school building was opened. On the 100th Anniversary of the church's dedication, Bishop Lennon came to celebrate a Mass with the families and friends of the current St. Mary Community. Ad multos annos.
